Washington Park Community

Washington Park is on the South Side of Chicago. It includes the park named
Washington Park stretching east-west from Cottage Grove Avenue to the Dan Ryan Expressway,
and north-south from 63rd Street to 51st.  Half of the neighborhood's lots are vacant,
reflecting the fact that Washington Park is one of the poorest in Chicago,
with a median household income of only $15,000 a year, although there has
recently been a surge in gut rehab and new construction condominiums,
signaling the fact that the neighborhood is amidst change.

    Here is the schedule of upcoming CTA Board meetings:

    The Chicago Transit Board meets monthly in the CTA main offices. The meetings are held on the second floor at 567 W. Lake Street, Boardroom, Chicago, Illinois. These board meetings are open to the public. Board meetings usually take place at 10:00 a.m. and are usually preceded by committee meetings.

    The separate committees include Human Resources, Strategic Planning, Capital Construction Oversight, and the Finance, Audit & Budget Committee.  Board meetings are to be held on the second Wednesday of each month unless otherwise noted.


    The board meetings for the year 2007 are scheduled at
    10:00 a.m. on the following dates (unless otherwise as noted):

    Wednesday, January 10, 2007
    Wednesday, February 14, 2007
    Wednesday, March 14, 2007
    Friday, March 30, 2007, 2 p.m. - Special Board Meeting
    Monday, April 23, 2007 (rescheduled from April 11)
    Tuesday, May 1, 2007, 3:30 p.m. - Special Board Meeting
    Thursday, May 17, 2007 (rescheduled from May 9)

    Also,  there are several new bus lines that run through our community.  In addition to the 55 Express that goes down Garfield Boulevard to Midway Airport, there is the 192 that goes from the University of Chicago Hospitals to both Union Station and Ogilvie Transportation Station in the loop.  Here is the link to the route:
